Why Christian Education?
Christian Education is a philosophy of education that explicitly declares that Christ is Lord. A genuine Christian education provides for the spiritual, intellectual, social/emotional and physical development of the child and gives purpose to learning. Genuine Christian Education is an expression of a partnership between the parents and the school for the child’s education to meet and exceed academic standards with a Biblical world view so that the child is prepared for an effective life of service in the Kingdom.
Christian Education is not a place where chapels, Bible classes, and prayer complement an otherwise secular education. Christian Education is not simply the study of religion. Christian Education is not a “safe house” from the world to protect children from the evils of the world or a reform school for families who have exhausted all other options to solve educational problems. Christian Education is an intentional partnership between educators and parents who explicitly declare that Christ is Lord.
Christian Education acknowledges God as Creator so that when they are learning about math, science, history, etc., then they are learning about God’s world. Christian Education an attitude of studying God’s world from the perspective of His Word so that students are passionate about their God, their lives, and their service. Christian Education is also an ambition for purpose-filled lives that display a commitment to justice, compassion, and integrity.
From a research standpoint, recent Cardus Education Survey results published on January 30, 2018, shows a significant impact of attending a Protestant high school on religious outcomes in young adulthood and are more likely to see their life work in spiritual terms and more likely to engage in devotional practices and a high level of involvement in churches including giving and volunteering. Christian Education makes a difference – for life.
