Intermediate School

Intermediate School is designed to meet specific academic and social needs of students at a specific stage in their education. Research indicates that 5th and 6th grades are at similar developmental stages unlike their peers in 4th grade and 7th grade. Because of this, these students can greatly benefit from an educational program crafted exclusively for them.

The Intermediate School concept offers multiple education and social advantages for students at this life stage:

  • A small team of teachers collaborate together in the careful design and delivery of a tailored educational program best suited to these students.
  • Each Intermediate School teacher begins the day with a homeroom period and Bible class. This designated time provides opportunities to mentor students.
  • Intermediate School is housed in its own “pod” of classes where students can build a sense of community.
  • Intermediate students participate in shared activities such as lunch and P.E. which provide opportunities for social growth.

Chapel

On Wednesdays, Preschool, Lower School and Intermediate School have chapel together. Upper School then joins for a shared time of worship together and stays for their chapel time after the younger students dismiss. This provides a structure to be able to present age appropriate biblical teachings to each group while not sacrificing the fellowship that occurs when the entire student body is together. We welcome families to join us for chapel each week.

Curriculum

Curriculum in Intermediate School is composed of traditional classroom study enhanced with small groups, project-based learning, STEM, fine arts, and physical education. It provides a diverse but solid foundation that offers students the opportunity to have many experiences and discover their God-given gifts that will guide them throughout school as well as into adulthood.

Small Class Sizes

Studies show that students benefit from small class sizes. At Grove, the average class size is 16. With no more than 20 students in a class, the benefits are numerous:

  • Individualized attention
  • Better focus
  • Fewer distractions
  • Improved student performance
  • Greater sense of community
  • Increased student confidence
  • More opportunities for leadership
  • Stronger peer relationships
Grove 24/25

“Teaching at Grove Christian school is such a blessing. To live and work in a community of believers, with parents who support the gospel and kids who want to learn more about Jesus is truly a life changing experience. I am so grateful to be able to talk about the Lord and history, creation, Bible verses and Biblical accounts all day, everyday. At Grove we start the day with prayer and The Pledge of Allegiance, and christian music plays all day throughout the church. We end the day with great athletic opportunities where every kid gets a chance to play, and afterschool activities, where kids are safe and loved. The Grove Staff are an amazing hard work group, the kids are fantastic and positive young leaders, and the parents are great supporters. I am so thankful to be a part of the Grove Family.”
